Having fun is still part of life, and re-learning how to have fun and interact with other people without alcohol or drugs is part of recovery. The nature of substance misuse tricks people into thinking that they can’t have “fun” without alcohol or drugs, and for some people in recovery social gatherings can be a source of anxiety or stress because of their prior associations.
Having models for positive and healthy social interactions is important because re-learning appropriate & sober social interactions helps reduce the likelihood of participants isolating after leaving ARAD’s facility which can lead to depression and relapse.
We arrange for a variety of supervised social activities to be available during and after a participant’s stay at ARAD.
